Phase 1 of the refurbishment has now been completed; the tombs have been cleaned and repaired. We now wait to know how much re-gilding we will be able to do.

September 2021

Cleaning of the tombs has brought to light detailed carving of the very highest quality. Nationally important!

August 2021

Conservators start work on the refurbishment of the tombs.

July 2021

Generous offer received from Church Care supported by the Pilgrim Trust. Grants, donations and underwriting now enable a start date for the conservation work to be scheduled for 16th August.

June 2021

Generous support received from the Beds and Herts Historic Churches Trust which recognises the historic importance of the tombs.

Donations received to date exceed £20,000. Contact made with the National Trust’s new manager at Sutton House.

February 2021

Contact made with members of the Sutton House Society who were instrumental in saving Sutton House in Hackney, Sir Ralph’s house before he moved to Standon.

January 2021

First donation received from a descendant of Sir Ralph Sadleir in USA. Wikitree link created by new American contact. Diocesan faculty (authorisation to proceed) received.

First article appears in the local village magazine, PS News http://www.psnews.org.uk/dec20.pdf Information about the appeal sent to 1,800 of Sir Ralph’s descendants. First donations received.
